Why He’s An IconFew, if any, young pop stars transcend into adult stardom, but Justin Timberlake has done it by changing the way he is perceived by his old and new fans. You know him from *NSYNC. You know him as Britney's first. You know him as the willing (or unwilling) accomplice in Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction. And you might even know him from his impersonation as one half of the Gibb brothers on Saturday Night Live. But now you know him as JT - the one who brought sexy back. Hyperbole aside, the man does know how to transform himself for a new age and a new fan base. First he cut the hair; then he trashed the wannabe hip-hop threads; then he put on a suit and showed the world he had what it took to come back after everything else he had been through.

Dress The Timberlake Way. He no longer favors the hooded sweatshirt under the blazer, and those bleached-out trainers with low-slung jeans are but a figment of his boy-band self. Indeed the man has grown up and sports the best of the best in men's suiting, but the true element of his new look is the stark white dress shirt in a body-hugging fit, sublime collar and tie that matches the suit jacket. Cutting your hair close and learning to dance won't hurt either, but to dress like JT you need the shirt - a shirt like Banana Republic's pleated-front topper. The shirt still reveals the physique, but also gives you a modern way to dress down formal wear. It's the perfect way to tell the world you mean business and are ready to be a new man.

Fall 2010 Fashion Trends: Furry Things

You know how people often have little, out-of-character tastes that surprise you?  Well, here's mine: 

I love fur.  LOVE.  

It's weird because I am irritatingly responsible, and fur doesn't exactly scream “responsibility.”  But something about it makes me want to throw all those good girl instincts to the wind.  It is my personal James Dean.

It’s glamorous and decadent, and it's a huge trend this year. Luckily, those of us who love the look but feel a little squeamish about it finally have some good options. 

Consider shopping for the Origin Assured label, which signifies that a garment “comes from a country where local or national regulations or standards governing fur production are in force.”  Top designers like Oscar de la Renta and Karl Lagerfeld are applauding Origin Assured's efforts to identify and market ethically produced fur. 

You can also go faux, which has the added benefit of being easier on the pocketbook. Now, theres no denying that faux fur used to look like the homely love child of a polyester fleece and a brillo pad.  But we've come a long way since then, and much of today's faux is good enough to fool even the sharpest eyes. Judge the quality by the texture.  Bad faux is weird and woolly; good faux is soft and pleasing to the touch (like the real thing).  Keep in mind: if you don't want to run your hand across it, you won't want to wear it, either.

Red Carpet Trend Of 2010 - Pant Suits

If you had said to me at the start of the year that pant suits would be one of the hottest trends on the red carpet I would have said you were crazy.

Surprisingly this trend worked, and on the most unexpected people.

A pant suit on Tilda Swinton always works well because of her androgynous look, but on boho queen Sienna Miller it was totally unexpected.

Her Gucci pant suit was a million miles away from the boho look we'd long tired of, but this look became the kick-start for a great red carpet promotional tour for the British actresses.

Evan also looked very comfortable in a Gucci pant suit, but the other big surprises were Penelope Cruz and Ashley Greene who both wore red Bottega Veneta pant suits.

Pen’s was a winner, the jury is still out on Ashley's.

Others who have dabbled with pant suits this year are Amy Adams at the “Sunshine Cleaning” LA premiere and Jennifer Aniston at the “He's Just Not That Into You” LA premire. 

Both wore Burberry suits. Amy's was white whilst Jennifer's was of course black.

Fall 2010 Fashion Trends: Luxe Hippie Boho

Feel the love with boho-inspired pieces this Fall. Looking like a hippie is “in” this season… as long as you look like a rich hippie! Look for rich paisley prints in multicolor, jewel or earth tones. Embroidered details give your outfit a homespun look. Flowy dresses, embroidered tunics, paisley prints and maxi dresses worn with boots, also give the rich hippie feel. Be careful not to overdo it with too much at once though. For jewelry, try a pair of dangling chandelier earrings or simple gold hoops with your outfit or add a stack of thin bangle bracelets to your wrist. You might try to layer two or three thin necklaces, but again – choose one or two area to focus one, not all three at once, otherwise you run the risk of hippie overkill. If you are wearing the hot trend of distressed jeans with boots, try pairing a simple rich brown suede hobo bag with your outfit and tie a paisley print scarf around your neck or around the shoulder strap of your bag. The key is to not overdo it so you don't look like you walked out of “Woodstock” or the Broadway production of “Hair”.

Makeup Ideas

Use just a light flush of color on your cheeks (berry, rose, pink) and a nude lip color for your lips, or, better yet, one of those lip colors in “your shade of lips but better” colors. You don't want a strong lipcolor since you are playing up your eyes with this look.
